So one of the benefits of going to all of these trade shows with our boutique is that we are introduced to tons of cool people doing really innovative, awesome and sometimes, just plain strange things.

The Nashville show we recently attended was no different.

There was the awesome-The Sassy Sparrow-which is an amazing line of handbags, accessories, baby parafanalia and all sorts of other little trinkets for a fabulous life. Everything is handmade by members of their very large family. They are based out of Illinois and to be honest, I am a bit obsessed with their bags, this one even ended up coming home with me. Kate Spade who? (Just kidding Kate, kind of…).

There there was the bizarre (and awesome). A fantastic 20 year old from Atlanta hocking steamers. She said she has been on the road going to trade shows and exhibits since she graduated high school. The steamer, however, incredible and comes with an attachment for steam facials. Which is exactly what i think about after steaming my clothes… My only regret is that I should have snatched up two.

And then there was my personal favorite and supremely cool- the makers of my favorite find in Nashville, my Willie Nelson shirt from above. When I first laid eyes on it I knew it had to be mine. It doesn’t get much better than Willie and I could picture this shirt worn with jeans and a sweater but also with tulle skirts and heels, to yoga class with my polka dot pants, with camo jean shorts and a beautiful kamono cardigan. Look, I could do this all day but I will spare you. Instead let me fill you in on the details of this little shirt. It joins my wardrobe from a company called Project 615. This company is 100% non profit and the proceeds of their incredibly cool shirts goes towards helping the homeless population of Nashville. I get to hang out with Willie, look totally adorable AND help. Ok, I will take one of everything… Check them out here.

Just when I think Target is everything, I find local people doing really interesting and amazing things. And it makes me so excited!

What local finds are you loving right now?

the time I wore over the knee boots

I have to be honest. The first time (and every time since) I watched Pretty Women I kind of liked Julia Roberts look pre Rodeo Drive make over. I mean she had that insane hair that was wild and carefree, the dress with the cutouts was once very risqué is now something you would see at every prom on no fewer than 15 high school girls, and those boots-SHUT UP. I loved those boots. Yes, they were a bit shiny and they had that whole zipper issue, but they were so incredibly iconic. I wanted a pair. I needed a pair.

So fast forward to 2012 when over the knee boots crept into style without anyone noticing. I went over the knee crazy. I got black ones, I got brown ones, I  got suede ones, I got leather ones. And then one day, while perusing the Victorias Secret shoe website, I met these. And I had to have them. Now truth be told, I haven’t found that many occasions that call for a 4 inch heel, over the knee thigh high suede boot, but every time I slip them on, I feel a little closer to Vivian Ward. Just misunderstood, wild and free, trying to get by, you know, minus the whole hooker thing.

Bonus, the total for this outfit: T-shirt-$3.99//Skirt-$5.99 which means basically free. Oh and so cute.
